2009 Virginia Staff Development Council Conference PROPOSAL SUBMISSION FORM

A New Day for Professional Learning...Take the Message Back

Please complete this proposal form by May 28, 2009.

General Information:
Type or print all information. Joellen Killion's keynote address will address the eight principles from the book, The Learning Educator. These tenets are: principles, diversity, leadership, planning, focus, impact, expertise, and collaboration. If more than one person is presenting a session, each presenter must be listed on this form (attach additional page if necessary). There will be five 90-minutes sessions in the morning and five 90-minute sessions in the afternoon.

Presenters will be expected to bring their own laptop, LCD projector, extension cord, and 30 copies of their handouts for their session. Screens will be provided in the rooms.

Presenters agree to register for the 2009 Virginia Staff Development Council Conference, A New Day for Professional Learning … Take the Message Back at 50% of the registration fee for the lead presenter and 100% of the registration fee for all co-presenters. Presenters also agree to cite all sources and gain permission to use any copyrighted or otherwise restricted materials within the context and content of this session.

Result: Participants identify areas in which VSDC and/or VSDC Region IV can be of support.

12:00-1:00 Lunch

1:00-1:45 Webinar- NSDC’s Deputy Executive Director Joellen Killion will provide an overview of Professional Learning in the Learning Profession: A Status Of Teacher Development in the U.S. and Abroad and answer questions.

Result: Participate in a conversation about the Darling-Hammond research.
